Top Russian fashion designer Denis Simachev is known for his quirky clothing line but he is also bringing his style to the kitchen. He has added a restaurant and bar to his boutique in Moscow which thanks to a British chef, are causing a bit of a stir wit
Nestled in between designer boutiques, on Moscow trendy Stoleshnikov side street, it’s the latest offering from Russian designer Denis Simachev. But it's not just his clothing range hidden behind the bold exterior – there's also a rather random bar.
With its grand location one might think it's another place reserved for Moscow's finest, but would be wrong. Punters need not worry about suffering the embarrassment of rejection by face control.
Instead the bar aims to serve good food in a trendy setting.
But like all culinary masterpieces, there's a secret ingredient – Chef Natalie Horsting.
Natalie's originally from London but it was while cooking onboard an exclusive yacht when she was invited to run the kitchen here in Moscow. She says it was a hard decision to make but she has no regrets.
With the help of partner Nathan Dalamore, Natalie manages a team of 20 Russian chefs.
She admits there have been a few problems with communication but they can rely on the universal language of cooking. And whatever difficulties there might be, the final product seems to have gone down well with customers.
However, it's not only what goes on in the kitchen which sets the bar apart.
There's also the special interior design with retro disco balls and animal skins mixed with tiled walls. And the man behind the magic says this is all part of the bar's appeal.
