A military and historic festival called ‘Breakthrough’, which depicted real war-time episodes, was organised to mark the 90th anniversary of the last attack of the Russian army during the WW1.
The show was set in a picturesque manor called ‘Grebnevo’, in Moscow Region. The fighting involved about 100 people. The so-called fighters said the hardest part of the show was that there are usually sign posts pointing where to shoot and throw bombs so that no one gets injured. Even though blank cartridges are used, the rule is to make sure you shoot at least five metres away from a person. Most of the items used are historically authentic.“This is the uniform of the East Prussian 33rd Regiment. The coat and all the other things are authentic. The bayonet, the pack and a beer mug are a must!” said Boris Burba, a participant. With the battle over, all of the equipment will be kept for the next year.
