For the first time the young British star Mika is coming to Russia, with two shows in Moscow and St. Petersburg on July 28 and 29.
Mika was born in Beirut, the third of five children born to a Lebanese mother and an American father. He studied music from early childhood and has always had an exceptional vocal talent.
As a child he was trained by Alla Ardakov (Ablaberdyeva), a Russian opera professional, and later attended the Royal College of Music in London.
The singer has so far never been to Russia. However Russia boasts millions of his fans. He was very much expected to visit the Moscow capital after his first studio album “Life in Cartoon Motion” was released back in 2007.
Back then, Mika’s music immediately brought comparison to the creativity of such heavyweights as Freddie Mercury, Scissor Sisters, Elton John, Prince, Robbie Williams and David Bowie. And no surprise: Mika was very much influenced by many of those musicians and couldn’t help adopting their styles. In his single "Grace Kelly" he actually refers to Freddie Mercury: "I tried to be like Grace Kelly, But all her looks were too sad, So I tried a little Freddie, I've gone identity mad!" However, despite all the eclecticism, Mika managed to make his music up-to-date, recognizable and loved dearly by millions world wide.
His controversial image couldn’t prevent him from receiving several top musical awards, such as Grammy, the BRIT Award, and World Music Award.
In 2009 Mika pleased his fans, releasing his second album “The Boy Who Knew Too Much”. Promotion of the first single from the album, "We Are Golden", allegedly cost Mika 25,000 pounds, which was spent on drinks after he invited his fans to join him in a local pub to celebrate the release.
The Russian concerts are part of the promotion for this latest album. However fans should not worry: his hits from “Life in Cartoon Motion” such as “Grace Kelly”, “Love Today” and “Relax, Take it Easy” will definitely be played too.
Now the new pop-idol is coming to Russia with two live gigs in Arena club in Moscow and the Ice Palace in St. Petersburg.
