Masters from Bryansk brought the Crystal Winter to Moscow

The Russian Fund of applied folk arts has presented an exhibition called “Crystal Winter”. It showcased items made by different Russian glass-making and other masters.

The Dyatkovsky Crystal workshop was founded more than 200 years ago in the Russian town of Bryansk. Masters at the workshop preserve all traditions of crystal glass making and their products are still as pure as spring water. It was an official supplier of Russian Tsars and Emperors and it still provides the Kremlin with crystal crockery.

Another glass making factory from the Bryansk region presented its handmade Christmas tree toys. The tradition of making glass toys in Russia has its roots in the 18th century when Peter the Great decided to celebrate New Years in European fashion.

There were not only glass toys at the exhibition. For instance, Russian artist Almira Solodilova presented toys made of wood.

The Crystal Winter exhibition will run until January 25.
