Say “Mamakabo” and smile! The greeting means “Good Afternoon” in a local dialect spoken on a small Carribean Island Providencia but is also the name of an open-air music festival taking place in Russia.
“Mamakabo” is a one-of-a-kind live entertainment event celebrating music of various genres, from jazz to folk through to rock-n-roll.
The festival is dedicated to the memory of a multi-talented Russian musician Andrey Baranov who died in a car accident in 2003.
Indie musicians from Russia and overseas take part in the music fair which is shared between several venues.

“Mamakabo” is often described as a “territory of pure music”, clear of lip-synching, show-biz kitsch and trash.
This time around the 3-day festival will take place just 90 kilometers away from the fuss and buzz of the Russian capital, in Kaluga Region on September 4.
Over 50 musicians, including the celebrated, multi-national Antonio Forcione Quartet, will take part in the festival this year.
Fans and musicians who couldn’t wait to celebrate one of the most highly-anticipated events of the year, gathered in the center of Moscow on August 20 in front of the “Hard Rock Café”. The crowd was treated to a drums and swing show by some of Russia’s best musicians.
