World-famous conductor Aleksandr Lazarev has given a performance with State Academic Symphony Orchestra of the Russian Federation at Moscow International House of Music.

Aleksandr Lazarev used to work at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow. Now he conducts mainly abroad and is a rare guest in the homeland. The maestro is now presenting a series of concerts in the Russian capital.

The concert programme consists of musical compositions by Russian composers Aleksandr Glazunov and Sergey Prokofiev.

The conductor believes that pieces of music are like sound pictures.

‘The musical picture must be absolutely clear for you. You can see it in one way, but what you have in your head does not always correspond to the real situation on stage,’ he says.

Aleksandr Lazarev says one of the main things in his works is to reach a balance between his ideas, the way the orchestra feels a certain musical piece and the expectations of the audience.
