Published: 23 February, 2007, 14:49

One of Russia's most successful figure skaters, Evgeny Plyushchenko, who won gold at the 2006 Winter Olympics, has claimed he won't take part in the 2007 World Figure Skating Championships in Tokyo.

Evgeny Plyushchenko says he is preparing his own tour, visiting 35 cities in Russia, with plans for Japan, the U.S., Europe and Canada also.

“And for the next year I would like to be back for skating at the European Championships and the World Championships, as well as the next Winter Olympics in 2010. I also hope I will be skating in 2014,” he explains.
