Some of the monuments to Lenin have been blown up, stolen, burned and beheaded, but this time vandals decided Lenin really needs to be taken care of, so they drove him away on a lorry.
This happened in the town of Kolomna near Moscow, whose citizens this morning discovered the monument to the chief of the world proletariat missing from its base.
The monument was, in fact, removed in December but no one in the town, given the holidays were in full swing, found the time to report the disappearance to police until now.
However, in the cold light of New Year someone managed to raise the alarm. Following an investigation the local constabulary got to the bottom of the mystery.
Lenin, they've declared, is safe and fighting fit – having been honestly removed for restoration.
