Recognition from the Kremlin has led to a small jeweller in Russia’s northern Kostroma region being swamped by customers, both local and foreign. Georgy and Tatyana Vlassov hand-make their pieces and were awarded special recognition from the Kremlin last

They began their work 30 years ago. For them, everything is in the detail.

“Unlike in the factories, I do orders for people on demand. My designs are unique and you can see my personal imprint on them,” says Georgy Vlassov.

The final result can fetch thousands of dollars, although they closely guard exactly how much buyers pay.

“It’s not about price or popularity. I put my soul into my work and when I see the result, that is what satisfies me,” says Tatyana Vlassov.

The Vlassovs get the inspiration for their award-winning designs from history or literature.
