Forget December 25 or January 7, Jesus Christ’s real birthday is June 17, says an Australian astronomer. He bases his claims on research into how the night sky looked over the Holy Land 20 centuries ago.
Who is any one to say they know the day Jesus Christ was born. No one knows except for God The Father , Mary ,Joseph, Christ The Lord and the others that were there. Anyhow, It doesn't matter When we celebrate the Birth of our Savior. We should celebrate everyday as if it is for Him. If it weren't for Jesus, we wouldn't have life.
AMEN Jolene!
June 17th, September 29th, or December 25. It matters very little, though from the research I've done June 17th is dangerously close. A lot closer than December 25th! That fact is that Jesus WAS born. From what we know it was warm enough for shepherds to be hanging out with sheep in the middle of the night. Rome wouldn't have Jews cruising all over Israel, getting back to their birth place to register for a census, in the middle of winter. Wouldn't be practical. We set aside December 25th and celebrate it as His birthday. It's as good a day as any. Not much else to do in the northern hemisphere because it's cold anyway. I'm just glad the whole world stops what they're doing and gives The Son of the Most High God the respect He deserves. I think that if God left heaven to save a bunch of sorry ass sinners because He loves them it's cool that we set a day aside any day to recognize his birthday. Even though we really aren't sure what day that is. Any day day will do and I don't think God minds that much. Just proud that we do it!
June 17 is very close to what I thought I was understanding God Himself speak to me a few years ago(same date, different month, but truly does not matter when as long as we celebrate our King as we should. A lesson I learned from a group of gentlemen who were from an african tribe. As a tribe they would gather together, play music and dance before their king in celebration and honor to him. So while it truly doesn't matter what date Jesus was born as long as we come together in agreement and celebrate our King who is above all kings and the only on deserving our worship and praise, but this is something God asked us to do once a week( part of my take on "remember the Sabbath to keep it holy). While it is true it has been said that the Sabbath is actually a Saturday. I think most of us may agree that as long as we set aside one day a week for Him, it doesn't really matter the day or date. Ofcourse, celebrating Him is something I like to do 365(366 on leap year)days a year...well at least I try. I"m not perfect(I'm not in Heaven yet). I really did appreciate Joe and Jolene comment, so I (in a "novel" version) amen that!
Actually, we were not ment to know by the holy bible the exart day/date of the birth our lord jesus christ. Had it been that God almighty wanted us to know the exert date, he himself would have revealed it through his prophets long ago or even through this present powerful men of God. That is why our God still remains ominiscience. So let us not boader ouselves over what God himself has decided to keep hidden from us and continue to celebrate christ birthday as it has already been celebrating. If God would have wanted us to know the actual date, he would have make a provision of that in the bible for all men to see. But i tell you it is of no use, for blessed is who who did not see but believed. The issue in question did not lie in discovering the actual date of christ birth, the fact is that we all must accept him as our own personnal lord and saviour so that we not only celebrate him on christmas day but we should be ready to celebrate him all the days of our lives..
The selection of December 25 as the birth of Jesus dates to the 4th century A. D. after Christianity had become the state religion of Rome. The Romans had long celebrated two holidays--Saturnalia and Sol Invictus--which roughly corresponded with the winter solstice. In an effort to popularize Christianity, the day chosen to mark the birth of Jesus was one which was already the date of a pagan celebration. Many of the practices of the early Christian church (such as the use of incense) were incorporated into Christian worship in order to make the newly imposed state religion more acceptable to Roman and conquered peoples in the provinces. In other words, the leaders of the early church were, quite literally, making it all up as they went along.
i believe that jesus christ was born on december 25. and ppl should just not make up dates.only jesus and god knows when he was born. we just go with it. but im not going with that. and if we did not have our father in heaven and christ.. we would not be here todayy
Its commonly accepted that the Dec 25th birth date of christ was simply an adaptation of a pagan holiday that Christianity replaced.... so why do people have such a hard time believing he wasn't born on the 25th? Its those narrow minded egotistical bible thumpers who refuse to criticaly think about things like this that drive me nuckin futs!
John is right. Even the catholic church admits it is lying about the origin of christmas, they just wont do it openly. It might raise to many questions about the other lies they have told over the last 1600 years. Type into your search engine "the origin of christmas" and one of the links will take you to the vaticans archives which says the same thing. If you cant believe them just read your own bible. If you notice the shepherds where out in the field with their flocks. You dont take them out at night in the winter. Thats just the beginning. But then most churches really frown on their parishioners actually reading the Bible for themselves. Good luck hunting for the truth. Its out there.
1 point i forgot to make. At the last supper Jesus gave the commandment to commemorate his death. "keep doing this in remembrance of me" He never once mentioned a birthday party. The only 2 birthday celebrations mentioned in the bible resulted in someones death. Pharoah's birthday where the baker was executed and joseph was released from prison. And King Herod's birthday where John the Baptist was beheaded. Raises the question on birthday celebrations and Christianity.
He was born on April 6th, everyone should know that!~
This article on Jesus birth on June 17 may be very accurate.
Please carry out your research again as Jesus son of Mary was born on 10 Day of the First lunar month (per Islamic calendar or Lunar Calendar), i.e. on 10th Day of Muhaarram ul Haraam which is a First month in a lunar calendar. Therefore please re-do it, you never know 17th of June as Solar calendar date might be confirmed as birth date of Jesus or otherwise. Therefore, please relate it accurately to the then 10th Day of the First month of Lunar Calendar (Muharram ul Haraam also called Islamic Calendar) and then determine it accurately. Thank you. GOOD LUCK!.
the bible does not say that the shepherds followed the star. they were told by Gabriel to go to the city of david, which is Bethlehem, and fnd a baby wrapped in cloth in a manger and he will be the messiah. the star was presented to the wise men FROM THE EAST, not saying exactly where from, after christ was born. so they traveled from the east, and then traveled to Bethlehem which took who knows how long. So all that can be done is mere speculation. But i do agree with Jolene's point. It doesn't matter when he was born. We should just rejoice in the fact that he was and praise him for dying for our sins
This celebrations that take place on December are a bunch of making money profits, not even close to the true value of its purpose. Which buy the way, following this celebrations are pagan origin with no rightous purpose only the one the church has made you adopt. If you are going to believe in something dont you think it would be wise to investigate and research, before you even teach it? Exam... like your kids, they always want to know the truth, not what everyone else believes and dont know yyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!
Jesus was not a "June Baby." If he was, then we would celebrate His birthday in June!!! And we don't. What does it say in the Bible? It doesn't. It does not say the exact date, but all we know for sure is that it was cold outside. [Because it says it in the Bible.] But it at least was sometime in Winter or Fall. And I swear that June is Summer, (not Winter or Fall). And I definately agree with Jolene! Thank you !!
MY BIRTHDAY IS JUNE 17TH----BUT, I AIN'T 2,000 YEARS OLD!
we really dont know exactly when jesus was born. the callendar has been changed so many times to suit the personal purposes of so many world conquerers/dominators such as Julius Ceasar, Augustus ceasar, Octavius, Alexander the great, pope Constantine, king James etc. and these are just a few. they have taken days from months to celebrate their birthdays. i don't believe that any calender is completely accurate, only because there has been times when whole nations were taken into captivity. whose keeping track of time then? for all we know Jesus could have been a woman. women have been persecuted since the begining and are still being treated unfairly in so many different countries today. who else would lay down their life for the people they love but a woman.
The light that the Magi were following led them to a house. It was a lot closer than the moon. It was the Shichina Glory like that Moses followed by night. That could have been any time of year, so we have one out of 365 chances of getting it right, and we need something festive to brighten up December.

For climatic reasons, it is hardly possible, that Jesus was born end of December. Example: It is too cold in Bethlehem end of December to find shepherds with there flocks of sheep out in the country during night time. Ancient records say that December 25 is the date of conception.[3] The perfect period of human gestation is 280 days. That would make September 29 the date of birth of the Son of God, about the time of the feast of Tabernacle. The word was made flesh, and dwelt (tabernacled) among us. John 1:14 The feast of Tabernacles fittingly symbolises the dwelling of God among men.[3]
