Israel is suffering a brain drain. Young Israelis are leaving the country in droves, in search of a new life and better opportunities. This is a change from previous generations, who helped build the country.

Please excuse me while I vent. I came to Israel from England 8 months ago. I have no real connection with this land, I'm not Jewish or religious in any way. I came here because I fell in love with an Israeli girl and I thought that would be enough to keep me here, but it isn't. The life style is harder and the level of service just isn't the same as in England. Once you leave the security blanket of Tel Aviv you soon realise where you are.. welcome to a young country in the middle east that's always in a rush of some kind. Just stay at a red light that's turned green for more than a second and you will receive abuse from car horns, this is just an example of the rush here. Or queue to get on a bus, with people pushing and trying to hand the bus driver money over your shoulder to beat you to a seat on the bus. I've been told to become more Israeli and do the same thing as the natives here, but it's not in my makeup to be rude just so I can fit in. I'm going home soon, in a couple of days in fact. It's be an adventure and something that will always stay with me. God bless you Israel, I will always love you. Many Israelis say the same thing when they find out my reason of being here.. " you came from England to live here in Israel because of a girl, are you crazy?!". I think maybe I was.
