Hope's gone for Spartak

Published: 23 November, 2006, 07:23

Champion League hopes are over for Moscow's Spartak. They managed only a 2:2 draw in a match against Bayern Munich. The Germans go through. Spartak are left with just an outside chance of snatching third place and a UEFA Cup spot.

Also in group B,  Inter Milan won at home, going through with Bayern. In Group A, Barcelona won 2:0 in Sofia but the Catalans still need victory in their final group match to qualify. That will be at home to German side Werder Bremen, which delivered the shock of the night in beating Chelsea.

Liverpool go through as Group C winners after their win over already-qualified PSV. Second place is still contested in Group D after Roma lost to Shaktar Donetsk. Valencia's win confirmed the side as group winners there.
