Homeless cinema to spend a night in Moscow

The wayfaring film festival “Takoe Kino”, translated verbatim as “Such Cinema” and devoted to the problems of homeless people, comes to the Russian capital for a one-day show.
Films to be shown in the program were made either by or with the participation of the homeless.
The “Takoe Kino” Film Festival was begun in 2008 by two of the International Network of Street Papers (a global engine for local poverty solutions across the globe), "Put Domoi" (St.Petersburg, Russia) and "Equal Oslo" (Norway). The films were first shown in Norway, then St. Petersburg and now they come to the Russian capital.
Twelve documentaries and animated films made by the homeless in Russia, Norway, Georgia, Ukraine, Poland, Slovenia, Germany, Holland, Scotland, England, Zambia and Colombia will be screened at the office of Cloud Watch charity in Moscow.
The video project entitled “The Noon” (an open-air interview project featuring homeless people answering the question: “What is the main thing in life?”) was shot worldwide on June 22, the longest day of the year, and is the main premiere at this festival. Another long-awaited film is "The Invisible People", based on the book by Greg Behrman with the same name – a look inside the United States response to the global AIDS crisis.
The festival will take place on November 11, featuring not only the film program, but also extensive discussions on the problems of homeless people and the way they can be helped. "On November 11th we wish to meet those who care about the problems of homeless people in [Russia], those who help and those who wish to,” the organizers’ message says.
Not long ago, a homeless man from Siberia made a movie about himself and his relations with the outer world. The “erotic-philosophical movie” was sent to Cannes, however no response followed. Observers will watch to see whether "I + people, or the Sight of a stranger at human civilisation" will be on the program of the 2009 festival in Moscow.
