Hockey ace Alexandr Ovechkin's goal tally for the season now stands at 63, after he scored in Washington's 4-1 pummeling of Carolina. The Russian star’s strike makes him the top scoring left wing in NHL history.

Alexandr ‘the Gr8’ made the score 4-1 in the second period. Another Russian appearing on the score board was fellow Washington player, Alexey Semin.

Washington Capitals are tied with Carolina at the top of the Southeast Division. Both teams have 90 points with two games left to play.
