Hundreds of graphic art works are being showcased and offered for sale at Moscow’s New Manege. The event features not only contemporary art pieces, but also some valuable works created centuries ago.

Posters, drawings in pencil, engravings and large scale photographs are now displayed at the New Manege hall in the centre of Moscow.

Dozens of galleries and independent artists from across Russia and Ukraine are here to present their work and, perhaps, find a buyer.

The Moscow's House of Nationalities presents a project by Olga Samosyuk. Her works depict various mythological creatures, endowed with a human mind.

The original drawings from a Soviet satirical magazine Krokodil show the opposite – humans with characters of animals. The magazine was founded in the beginning of the 20th century and was very popular in the country, so these works may be valuable for collectors.

Historical theme is carried on in a photography project called “Life and death of Nicholas the Second”, the last Russian Emperor.

Andrey Chezhin, from Saint Petersburg displays the photographs of the place, where the last Russian Tsar and his family were executed. Also, he created an unusual serigraphy, showing portraits of the Emperor at various stages in his life.

Modern times are also presented. Artist Andrey Budaev creates mock posters with celebrities and politicians as the main characters.

‘Many Budaev's works depict various political leaders, including George Bush and Angela Merkel.  Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, who became famous on global political scene, also became the artist's character,’ Sergey Smirnov, art project's curator, said.

The prices for old engravings vary from over $US 3,000 to about $ US 50.

The exhibition takes place from March, 21 to March, 25.
