Seven train carriages loaded with gold ore have been derailed in Armenia, the South-Caucasian Railroad press office said.
The accident happened at 11:40pm local time on Monday, newsarmenia.ru says.
Traffic on the line has been temporarily halted.
“According to representatives of the South-Caucasian Railroad CJSC, the accident was caused by a defect of the track,” the announcement says.
Repair works are now underway and it's expected the railway will be restored within two days.
