The list of entertainment venues in Moscow in mid-October include classical and dance music, a gallery of vinyl covers and a concert of Balkan director and folk-rocker Emir Kusturica.
The new opera season kicks off with Verdi's La Forza del Destino – or, in English, The Force of Destiny. It's a tale of love and war in which two lovers are separated by feuding families. The performance starts at seven at the Stanislavsky Music Theater.
Also, Stanislavsky Music Theatre is staging its trademark ballet, Giselle. At its November 12 premiere, rising young star of French ballet Mathieu Ganio will play Count Albrecht.
Those who are looking for more modern music can check out the Israeli solo-singer-guitarist combo Yoav in the B2 Club at 10 on Sunday.
Garage gallery presents a show called Vinyl – Records and Covers by Artists. Among the works on show are Warhol's famous pop-art banana for the Velvet Underground, plus plenty more. The show continues till January 20.
And for lovers of Balkan rhythms, "Emir Kusturica and his No-Smoking Orchestra" will be at Milk Club on the 17th. Kusturica won many awards for his films, but he pursues a folk-rock career and will play songs from his films, as well as other hectic tunes at the Moscow gig.
