One of the Russian glossy magazines, “Top Beauty”, has organised its own awards ceremony for celebrities. “Top Glossy” marks show personalities who, according to the magazine, have been the brightest stars of the season.
Not many guests actually knew what the celebrities were gathering for, nevertheless one of Moscow's restaurants, “Aist”, was packed to full capacity. Those who consider themselves 'glam' – or aspire to be so – gathered at the event despite record Moscow heat.
Some may consider bearing the title of “Top Glossy” is somewhat odd, but those acclaimed as “glossies” say they are quite happy with it.
“I feel OK, I think it’s quite well, myself. Even if I'm glossy, or glamorous – whatever you call it – I feel all right,” says actor Konstantin Kryukov.

The awards included traditional nominations such as Top Glossy actor and actress, writer, TV host and politician.
The latter traditionally went to controversial Vladimir Zhirinovsky, known not only for being Duma Vice Speaker and leader of the Russia's Liberal Democratic Party, but also for not being averse to the odd celebrity party.
Mr Zhrinovsky says being named “Top Glossy Politician” does not harm his political reputation.
“It's summer time, let's party, enjoy ourselves and be happy! I think that such titles as ”glossy“ and ”glamorous“ should never be regarded as offensive and humiliating, they shouldn't be rejected by people,” he believes.
And after the ceremony some of the guests headed off to the premiere of the film by renowned Russian director Andrey Konchalovsky. Titled “Gloss” – no surprise under the circumstances – the film, as its blurb says, is “a bitter comedy about sweet life”.
