A new skating rink by the name of “Glamorous Ice” will open in the center of Moscow on January 15.
The winter attraction is located at Moscow State University’s Botanical Garden “Aptekarsky Ogorod” at the Prospect Mira metro station.
Skating rink organizers explained that the rink is pink because the ice of the pond is covered with pink plastic coating, RIA Novosti reported. Decorative elements are partly pink.
The site will include a skate rental shop, children’s ice hills and a café with hot tea and coffee.
The entrance fee is the same as for the Botanical Garden itself, 100 roubles (app. $3) per hour during the day and 150 roubles (app. $5) per hour after 6 pm. The skating rink will operate from 10.00 am to 10.00 pm.
The organizers of the attraction claim it’s the first pink skating rink in the world. But colorful skating rinks are not new to Moscow – in 2006 an orange rink was opened and in 2007, a blue one.
