A group of best and brightest young people from all over the world has taken part in the G8 summit in Toronto.
Members of the Junior 8 were giving their older counterparts a fresh look at old international issues – nuclear non-proliferation, terrorism, security, childhood, maternal health and climate change.
“The most valuable experience was communicating with other nations and people of other cultures,” Sofia Prokhorova, a member of Russian delegation, told RT. “We are very thankful to our government and the Ministry of Education for this chance.”
In different countries, junior G8 members were selected in different ways. Russia has taken the challenge seriously: participants were preparing for the summit since February. The contest was quite tough: first, students wrote essays on heated topics, then, 80 lucky ones went though psychological trainings, language competitions and a final business game. After the tests, 8 students were selected to take part in the delegation.
