Spartak failed to join Zenit in the last 16 of the UEFA Cup. The Muscovites are out of the tournament, after going down 3-2 on aggregate to Marseilles.

Alexandr Pavlenko and Roman Pavluchenko scored for Spartak to make it 2-0  in Moscow, but it was obviously not enough.

Meanwhile, Russian champions Zenit have lost 2-1 to Villarreal, but the St. Petersburg side are through to the next stage winning on away goals.

In the other matches Hamburg have held Zurich to a goalless draw and advance to the next round, winning 3-1 on aggregate.

Leverkusen progress after destroying Turkish side Galatasaray 5-1.

Panathinaikos hosted Rangers after a goalless draw in the first leg. This ended 1-1, so Rangers advance, as they got a goal away from home.

Sporting are also through after a 3-0 victory against Basel. Tottenham drew with Slavia so go through, while Everton thrashed Brann.

So, the last 16 draw looks as follows:

Anderlecht – Bayern Munich
Rangers – Werder Bremen
Bolton – Sporting
Bayer Leverkusen – Hamburg
Getafe – Benfica
Fiorentina – Everton
Tottenham – PSV
Marseille – Zenit

The only Russian side still in the tournament, Zenit, will now take on Marseille. First-leg matches will be played on the March 6, with the second legs on March 12 & 13.
