The Russian Football Association is investigating a referee's claims that he was threatened by a politician during a premier league match. Aleksandr Gvardis officiated Terek's surprise 1:0 win over CSKA Moscow and turned down penalty appeals by the homesi
The match took place in Chechen capital of Grozny.
Sovetsky Sport newspaper reports he was intimidated at half-time by a man wearing a Duma Deputy’s badge who said: “We can get you! If not here, then when you are at home!”
Terek, the Chechen team, went on to score a second half goal to win the match.
Mr. Gvardis included the incident in his post-match report.
Both he and the Russian FA were unavailable for comment on Monday.
