One of the most important public holidays in the United States – Independence Day – is marked on July 4th. Traditionally, on the first weekend following the holiday, the American Chamber of Commerce in Russia holds its annual celebra
This year, thousands of people – both Russians and Americans – came to mark the event at 18th century Kuskovo estate in Moscow. While the city went about its business, the Russian noblemen's estate was transformed into a patch of Americana for an entire day.
While relations between Russia and the U.S. are being ironed out at the highest level, the people of both countries are very friendly with each other – playing games, and enjoying a day outside. Thousands of kilometres away from the United States, the celebration in Moscow was arguably the largest Independence Day commemoration outside the U.S.
The day ended with a firework display overlooking the lake.
