Film festivals to support rising stars

The festival of Youth Films has ended in Moscow, at the same time, the British Academy for Film and Television Awards, or BAFTA, has announced the names of promising young actors in London.

The Festival of Children's and Youth Films was all about focusing on young people breaking into the industry. This year's jury included teenagers and adult professionals who selected the best of the best from dozens of movies around the world.

The professionals voted for fairytales from Germany and Norway, while the young people awarded first prize to the drama “I'm Not a Fool Too”, which tells the story of teenagers in Singapore.

Meantime, with the awards in the bag for young Russian film actors, the anticipation for those in England has just begun.

Five promising actors for this year's Rising Star Award have been just short-listed by BAFTA. 

Ben Whishaw from “Perfume” and Emily Blunt, who received acclaim for her role in the “Devil Wears Prada”, were among those who have noticeably broken into mainstream cinema with eye-catching performances. The ultimate winner will be announced at the BAFTAS in February, meaning British film-lovers still have time to decide, who the brightest rising star is.
