Goldie, one of the founders of drum and bass, has given a concert in Moscow. Russian drum and bass musicians opened Goldie's performance and as soon as Goldie appeared on stage the dance floor filled up.
The art director of one of Moscow’s clubs and editor of a music portal, Aleksey Ostroukhov, provided accommodation for Goldie on this trip.“I'd say that Goldie's visit to Moscow is a kind of holiday because people with such charisma and DJ skills rarely come to Moscow or even Russia,” he said.Goldie is one of the most gifted artists of the electronic music scene. He grew up in the street and started by doing graffiti art. Although successful, he switched to music to become a founder of the drum and bass genre. Then Goldie went on to act in Guy Ritchie's “Snatch” and in one of the Bond movies. The musician has always had his own view on how things should be done, and has hardly ever been driven by popular demand. “I make the same music – if not better – than I made 10 years ago,” says Goldie. “Because the world has caught up, the world begins to hear better, and because they hear it, they think: oh, I understand it! Therefore it sells well.”Russian drum and bass lovers will have a chance to see him again. In January Goldie is back in Russia, this time to Saint Petersburg.
