In 2007 the event is devoted to international fairy tales. More than 40 artists from 12 countries including Russia have arrived in the northern town of Harbin to compete in ice-sculpture craftsmanship.

They mould and carve figures of cartoon characters and magical cities, especially those where ice sports are popular.

The Harbin Snow and Ice Festival will run until early February and has already attracted thousands of people from all over the world.
