The focus of the fourth day of the Russian Fashion Week was the terrific show by Tatyana Parfyonova. Her genius could only be compared to the boundless Russian spirit in her latest collection dedicated to Russian Ballet.

The presentation of Tatyana Parfyonova’s collection was a stunning performance, celebrating feminine grace and lightness of volumes. Professional Moscow ballerinas replaced models, which turned the catwalk into a theatrical dance performance – a gentle combination of various mediums of art. Corsets, long skirts, plush and silk – all that made the collection look like it was made for the stage. Though Parfyonova herself says the collection is still commercial.

“What I do is also for my clients. I love them and it’s for them I do my shows. I’m an artist with an artistic education, I’m very much fond of what I do, so I don’t need to somehow distract myself from the outer circumstances. On the contrary – it takes bad thoughts away.”

The show left every guest fascinated, which was proven by calling the models back to the catwalk for an encore to Alexander Vertinsky’s "Tango Magnolia".

The experienced and renowned designer from St. Petersburg takes inspiration in Russian culture, especially the first two decades of the 20th century, often referred to in Russia as the Silver Age. Flower themes dominated in the Spring-Summer collection, accompanied by live piano music from the same period.

Tatyana Parfyonova shared her impression from Russian Fashion Week with RT.

“Russian Fashion Week is a very designer-friendly event. I don’t need to care about lighting, sound, or press. All the designer needs to do is make a collection and bring it here… I think it’s great that there are people here who can organize and hold such an event. If in other countries, like France, Italy or the USA, such events are strongly supported by the state authorities, here in Russia nobody, in fact, supports them. Which is very sad.”
