Legend of world jazz and Grammy Award-winning Canadian jazz pianist and singer Diana Krall presents her new album “Quiet Nights” in Russia. On Monday night she will give a concert in Moscow’s Tchaikovsky Hall.
This sister of ours is elegant, feminine and graceful but I do not think she measures up to Nina Simone, Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerland, or other black American ladies of the Blues and Jazz. This sister is the product of the Canadian Great White North and as a result she has little understanding to the cultural roots of women in Jazz and blues. As a result, her sing voice never touches my heart.
