On September 3 at Moscow’s B1 Maximum club British group Keane, considered one of the trailblazers of the Britpop scene, will give a concert – an event fans expect will be “earthshaking”.

While the world held their breath to the sounds of reinvigorators of guitar-rock Interpol, The Killers and The Strokes – three lanky guys from East Sussex, intent on breaking the stereotype of the indestructible union of rock 'n' roll with guitars, diligently studied the possibilities of keyboards.

Having refused the more traditional role of a guitar in Britpop and rock, Keane focused on keys, which the founder of group Tim Rice-Oxley plays. Tim was even invited once to play with Coldplay, but he proved confident enough to have refused the offer and continue his own career.

The English piano rock band was formed in Battle, East Sussex in 1994. So far Keane have recorded three studio albums, which have received praises from critics and a wide circle of admirers, including those in Russia. The sounds of Tim Rice-Oxley keyboards and Tom Chaplin’s extraordinary strong vocal, often compared to U2’s Bono, have become Keane’s trademark.

The concert of the British group will take place at Moscow’s B1 Maximum club on September 3. Go check it out!

Unfortunately, British music has gone the way of British politics..... Since this site is directed towards people outside Russia, why not feature more contemporary Russian and Eastern European musicians instead. Few people in the west know anything about them and would probably be more interested than they are about British or american popstars, whom they see every day in the western media.
