Heavyweight boxing comes to Moscow this October when home favourite Sultan Ibragimov defends his WBO crown. Ibragimov was originally scheduled to fight IBF champion Ruslan Chagaev, but will now face Evander Holyfield instead.
The American fighter Holyfield, who turns 45 six days after the fight, plans to retire as the oldest heavyweight champion in history.
But for the Russian, its all about respect.
“I remember watching him [Holyfield] in 1994, when I was a kid. That was one of the best heavyweight fights ever. If someone told me I would be fighting him, I wouldn’t have believed it. So I was pretty excited when I found out about the fight. And it’s a great honour, especially, with the match being held in Moscow,” Sultan Ibragimov said.
