A dreamer, an experimenter, a revolutionary... Canadian playwright/director Robert Lepage has brought his avant-garde performance “Lipsync” to the Russian capital.

Praised for his highly imaginative work in his native Quebec and all over the world, Robert Lepage has been pushing the boundaries of imagination for several decades. According to him, the reason he took up theater in the first place was to fight shyness on stage.

Neither his actors, nor the audience, or perhaps even Lepage himself, know for sure what to expect from the trailblazing director. His reputation as the leading light of contemporary theater precedes him. Lepage is a true original: he is interested in the shape of things, the poetry of words, and the beauty of sounds.

Using theater as an outlet for his energy, the Canadian author expertly blends on stage an amalgam of human dreams and fears with a palette of crazy ideas and comical reality.

One of his most famous performances, “Lipsync”, is a creative reflection of chaos in people’s minds and souls peppered with Lepage’s trademark humor and risqué content. In a nut shell, “Lipsync” is a non-conformist performance for unconventional theater lovers. It runs until August 2 at the Chekhov festival in Moscow.
