Despite recent improvements in Russia’s economy and immigration policy, foreigners are still afraid to work in the country. However, the situation might improve in the near future.
I have been very supportive of Russia for a long time and have been longing to move there but my current situation prevents me from so doing, so enjoy going to Russia (a place I call home) for many weeks each year. RT is quite correct to say that bad publicity abroad portrays Russia as some bad disease. I think that the media in the West as well as politicians who press the brainwashing buttons of westerners are to blame for this unfair hysteria. Russia has come from the dark. It has a far better public transport system than here in england. The Moscow Metro is by far better and on time and cheaper. The West, in particular england, needs to look in their own back garden and sort things out before causing hysteria about Russia. Russia and the Russian people are not cold. Russia's winter is quite comfortable - people should try england and then you will know what cold is. The Russian people are warm and generous. Sure, Russia is not unique and does have elements of society that do not contribute to a stable and safe situation. The very same is said for england, usa, pakistan, india, japan but we don't talk ill of zimbabwe or south africa where the situation there is by far worse than in Russia. The West, especially england, needs to embrace Russia and not continually threaten her with war (David Miliband) or with isolation. As with any other country, Russia has its laws and when in Rome as they say. One must not think that one is an american or english person you are immune - forget it.
Dear miss Sarah Russian cold is allso a big part of hardcore stereotype mentality of the foreighners and outside world about Russia. If you would only explore and discover how big and diversified Russia acctualy is. If you would only visit the Russia in spring and summer, to see how hot and sunny summers we allso have here in continental Moscow region or visit the southern russian regions like Krasnodar, Rostov, Crimea, Stavropol, Kalymikia or Astrakhan...where melons, grapes, vine, green and black tea, oranges and peaches groows...or to visit our Black Sea coast where russian summer sea hollydays resorst are located. Or visit our green Russia outside the big cities and industry centers, where wildlife and nature is trully virgin !
There is a very important point here; demographics .
It is probably true that the list of people that are most influenced by a negative view of modern Russia are on a sliding scale from the oldest to the youngest downward.
to say that clearer; the older the people the more factors influence the decisions , i.e the cold war , the fact that they grew up in the 'T.V" era , as we move forward the information generation will have no pre-conceived ideas of the Russian federation. or more accurately the ability to make informed judgment.
And if i was a policy maker i would be inclined to focus attention on these young people, forget the older generation, but unfortunately at the moment they (the older) are the ones with the veteran skills and capital at the "Right now" point.
but i could not see this problem persisting much past 5 more years maybe 10.
The focus should be as mentioned for skilled workers , southern lifestyle , easy visa, color , information .it will happen.
I'd bet there are lot of skilled Californians that want to have a chance in the future. with a 'real' government.

Well, racist attacks are everywhere and some people are just beckons for things. They know who they are and that it's going to be like that no matter where they go to. I think the main problem is that ordinary people in that sphere are treated differently than ordinary people elsewhere or the people who can relocate, have the funds to, are used to different treatment or rights that they seem to nolonger have once they enter into Russia. Plus, Russia is poorer in current time than most mother nations, so the difference in lifestyle causes a problem for those who are used to "everyday" things being luxuries, certain types of transportation and such. A lot of people in the states have never truly left suburbia, so I guess I see the problem on our end in addition to our current generation. It's not that or the language, it's your cold that scares me off.
