Russia is preparing an overhaul of its police following several massive scandals that shook the force. The new draft law has been published online and has prompted large-scale feedback from experts and the public.

A few points: 1. The police need training, technology and an improved criminal code. 2. They need higher wages and improved benefits 3. The police need some respect. One bad cop doesn't spoil the whole police force. 4. Citizens need to know their responsibilities. 5. Last, this change is like other changes going on in Russia. It will take some time.
