Three militants have been killed during a security operation in the North Caucasus Republic of Dagestan.
The official ceremony scheduled to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Katyn Massacre has been cancelled. This is due to the recent tragic death of the Polish president, whose plane crashed on the way to the site.
A Russian court has ordered the release of an ex-army officer who confessed to strangling a Chechen woman.
Special forces killed three suspected terrorists during an operation in Dagestan on Thursday. Notorious militant leader Omar Sheyhulaev is believed to be among the dead.
Four barrels containing 200 kilograms of explosives were discovered in the capital of Ingushetia, while officials were sifting through rubble of a previous explosion that had resulted in the deaths of four servicemen.
On Wednesday evening a major militant cell was detected in the mountains of Kabardino-Balkaria. Seven militants are reported killed by the police officers.
A number of civilians yet to be found organized a ‘tank race’ in a central Russian military unit, according to its commander. Poor skills in driving the military vehicle resulted in the death of a soldier.
