Plastic surgery is generally considered safe and is widely seen as a remedy for imperfections, but some Russian women have learnt a grave lesson in the dangers of artificial beauty.
In Chile a girl was injected with biogel in her upper lip.It got infected and the surgeons had to remove her upper lip altogether.
How truly sad to read in that Russia, as in the West, woman are falling victims to beauty charlatans. My strong feeling is that the desire for artificial beauty by Russian women is one of the bitter fruits of Post-Soviet commodity culture which has penetrated Russian society.
