A Vladivostok man has been hospitalised after more than a week of being on hunger strike. Aleksandr Kashin was run over by a U.S. consular official with diplomatic immunity more than 9 years ago, leaving him paralysed from chest down and confined to a whe

After four days of hunger strike Aleksandr seemed to gain a kind of victory. The U.S. State department offered him $US 100,000 compensation.

However, the man rejected the sum, saying it wasn't enough to pay for an operation and that he needs a million US dollars.
