Israel are playing the long game. Within the next 60+ years (just a couple of generations), assuming no major wars, social upheaval, or international isolation, Israel will have 'absorbed' all of the valuable / worthwile land which remains of Palastine today. Jerusalem will also be the capital of Israel. There will be no Palastinian state. This 'long game' and the likely results can be seen today by simply extrapolating over time the actions the Israeli governments. The prognosis for the Palastinian people has never looked good, but today it looks so poor that even the most optimistic must surely be thinking that the chances of a viable, self sufficiant Palastinian state being created are slim. Unless the USA and the international community take a firmer line with the Israeli government any dreams / hopes / aspirations, and even basic rights in some cases, held by the Palastinian people will be lost.
