President Dmitry Medvedev has vowed to make sure Russia's Olympic team learns a bitter lesson from Vancouver, where it had one of its worst performances in the history of the winter games.
Nice to see the government taking responsibility and taking actions vs. that looser columnist that blame other for your failure.
For Medvedev to make a statement like this tells me that the New Russia is not much different than the Old Russia. The difference is that the Old Russia, the Soviets, would make sure that "Heads were going to roll" but they would not broadcast it worldwide like Medvedev. I guess Medvedev is just being more democratic about it. LOL

I think everyone needs to be reminded that the Olympics were just 'games', not a natural disaster. From the times of ancient Greece, games were used as an alternative outlet to war, a place and event where even bitter enemies put aside their differences and met in amicable competition. Nowadays it's supposed to be about sportsmanship and friendly competition. Maybe everyone should be reminded of that.
