Radiation in the water inside Fukushima reactor hits record level

Plant operator Tokyo Electric Power Co. now says the level of radioactive contamination in the leaked water from the No. 2 reactor was 100,000 (100 thousand) times higher than normal in the reactor's cooling system.

Difficult to predict end of Fukushima crisis – Japanese spokesman

Japan’s continuing efforts to cool reactors at the Fukushima number 1 nuclear plant are being repeatedly impeded by the wavering radiation levels. However, work that was suspended due to high radiation levels earlier on Saturday has been resumed.

Japanese authorities expand evacuation zone, cite no health risks

The Japanese government is debating whether to expand the evacuation zone around the Fukushima power plant, where water radiation is now 10,000 times higher than the norm. The evacuation area is currently 20 kilometers around the plant.

Efforts to avert total meltdown at Fukushima reactor 1 continue

Three workers have been exposed to harmful doses of radiation while working at the Fukushima nuclear power plant in Japan. There have been reports of a rise in temperature and new plumes of smoke rising from one of the reactors.

Around 1,200 protesters took to the head office of the Tokyo Electric Power Co. in Japan’s capital on Sunday voicing their demands to close the atomic power plants in the country.

The demonstrators marched through the streets of Tokyo calling on to the government and the nuclear company to shut down all nuclear stations not fit for earthquakes and tsunami and to switch to alternative energy sources.  The protesters also demanded that information not be withheld about what’s really going on at the Fukushima-1 plant, and to show more responsibility in handling the catastrophe. They also promised to hold regular protests until the authorities take all necessary measures to deal with the consequences.

A recent survey by Kyodo News agency.released on Sunday shows 58.2 percent of respondents do not approve of the government's handling of the nuclear crisis at Fukushima power plant.

1,200 people that could be helping. 10,000 dead and 17,000 missing and these 1,200 think it is a good idea to stand around with signs.

Sure, because tens of thousands are dead and missing, this makes it invalid to have an opinion and express it on this obviously dangerous, uncontrollable and unnecessary technology?

Japan does not have the right to contaminate the ocean.  Instead this radioactive water should be forced to remain in Japan.  To dump it into the ocean is an easy thing to do.  Tepco should create an area for it such as a resevoir.  This is the electric company's problem and not that of the neighbouring countries.

Initally why where these facilities built on the coast line when everyone is aware that for centuries tsunamis have wiped out villages along the coasts?

It is horrifying that it appears there are ongoing errors taking place.  Let's hope and pray that international nuclear specialists are allowed  to step in with their expertise  before the Japanese government and Tepco create further disasters as they are presently doing by eventually destroying sea life.

I am afraid how long can our ocean survive under this strong nuclear radiation.  What will be the date that we need to drop sea food because of the contamination of radiation from japan's continuous radiation. It is over weeks and weeks. If it last for months, Japan are killing the world by polluting the ocean and all sea food cannot be eaten.
