Israel says there's no time to waste and the moment to act on Iran is now. Tensions between the two countries seem close to the boiling point, with many experts saying Israel could be considering a nuclear attack.

I strongly believe Israel should disarm itself from nuclear weapons as part of this peace initiative, lets face it, back in 1973 Yom Kippur War Israel fought off invincible odds without using nuclear weapons, they had a wing of Phantom II ready to deliver nuclear weapons if failing with their defence true, however that would not been the end of the war no matter how much one would like to think that nuclear weapons is the answer, at that time both Soviet and the U.S, NATO would been involved if such an event would had occurred. Why do Israel need nuclear weapons? I think they have proven time after time again that they are indeed invincible in comparison to their Arab neighbours; the Arabs only got terrorists as the only effective way to cause Israel harm. If Israel dismantle their nuclear capability so what? If they needed a bomb they could acquire that within a week. They have the knowledge, they have the capability. Another Arab attack? This is how should I say impossible today, there is no Arab unity what so ever, any answer militarily would fail so hard there would not be any historical event up to this date that gone that bad. This would work almost immediately to sanction Iran no question about it, what Iran does today and can do today is thanks to the double standard, no question about that, Israel is a strong nation, Israel got Merkava IV’s Arab nations got export versions of the M1A1 and M1A2 Abram it is equal to the T-72M1 in comparison to the domestic versions of the U.S tank, what does Israel fear? There is no Arab nation except for perhaps Jordan that got any tactical skill with their armed forces what so ever, give it a break, grow up people. Disarm, and the rest of the world will follow suit I am almost 100% certain on that one.

The government of the USA has just agreed to open direct talks with the government of Iran. As long as the talks last Israel cannot launch a military strike without involving the USA in a 'Sneak Attack'. I.E. pretending to negotiate in order to launch a surprise military strike. As the Japanese government did at Pearl Harbor. As long as the talks last Iran can refine Uranium in peace. Obama can now threaten the Israeli government while appearing to pursue peace. If the settlement building programs are not frozen the Iranian peace talks can be dragged out for years. At their end Iran will have a working nuclear power station and large scale refining capacity.

Yes, there can be a peaceful solution to Iran's nuclear ambition if the US, EU, IAEA, and UN stop the double standards and hypocrisy of trying to prevent Iran and the arab countries from getting nuclear bombs while turning a blind eye to the 200-300 nuclear bombs that Israel possesses. The US, EU, IAEA, and UN have a responsibility to treat countries equally and fairly, and not to favor one country over another. as they have clearly done for Israel. The US, EU, IAEA, and UN need to decide whether or not they want the Middle East to be free of nuclear bombs. If the answer is yes, they should put the same pressure on Israel to give up its 200-300 nuclear bombs that they are putting on Iran and the arab countries to prevent them from getting nuclear bombs. Otherwise, Iran should never give up its legal right to enrich uranium or make nuclear bombs. The double standards and hypocrisy of the US, EU, IAEA, and UN is outrageous and should not be tolerated by any country, or the world.

Shika, I will try to answer the question you asked, "Why do Israel need nuclear weapons?" It is about survival as a people. The world has tried many times over the last two thousand years to eliminate the Jewish People. History proves this. To understand the Israelis' you have to put yourself in their shoes. If I were an Israeli jew whose parents or grandparents were victims of Hitlers Final solution, I would be very suspect of Irans' Intentions. Look at what the Shai Islamists believe , they await the arrrival of the great Mahdi, who is suppposed to rid the world of the jews. Take the time to read the Quran, and see how quickly Mohammed condems the Jews as the worlds greatest evil. Now put yourself in the shoes of an Israeli: You live in a very small nation, you are surrounded by 330 Million Muslims, who would love to see you and your nation all dead. the enemies around you are not as well trained or equipped but they have great numbers and are full of hatred for you. You know The Muslims have tried unsuccessfully to wipe Israel of the the map in 1947, 1956, 1967, 1973. And in your heart you know, They are never going to give up trying.... Now Iran is working night and day ( with Russia's help) to develop Nuclear Weapons. The whole world knows this. Irans President has publicly called to the destruction of Israel. " Why do Israel need Nuclear Weapons? " They have no choiice but to have them, and no choice but to be ready at all times to use them against all who come against her.

From Ibarruri, in Lagos, It is pure insanity , to proceed along the path of appeasement of Isreal as a nuclear state .the way the USA, EU, IAEAand the UN are doing while stigmatizing Iran as a threat to the International community. It is a further perpetration of the imposition of discrimatory strategic military advantage to an ally of imperrialism and colonialism started in 1917 by the British. The way forward is one which enthrones the destuction of Zionism as an inhuman ideology , like APARTHIED was. Then setting up a Palestinian state with all the lost rights of the Arab palestinians restored on the seized lands now called Isreali occupied territories where both Jews and Arabs live in equality will naturally follow. Mankind abhores the current mentality of Isreali supremacy preservation inherent in all Western proposals in this sphere.
