The funny thing is, is everyone on this site talks about how America is a war monger, yet you would never see Americans parading in streets filled with missiles and weapons. This is stuff that you only see in primitive nations. This shows that if you had the power of America, that you would be doing much worse things in the world.

If Russia had America's power it would be hardly any different. Superpowers vary little in practice, and the Russian's are likely just as adept if not more so than the American's at handling things behind the scenes. Russia doesn't have this power, and these parades serve as little more than moral boosters for the general public. America is well aware of Russian military capabilities (hence their attempts to disarm them via START treaties and surrounding them). America doesn't have military parades because they would have little if any positive affect, too many people would say "wtf this isn't right" where as in Russia, its a tradition to the people, so the government exploits this to build patriotic feelings.

No the primitive nations, are the ones actually still carrying out colonial wars, like the US and its NATO coalition of the killing in their illegal wars, tortures and rapes in Iraq and Afghanistan. We saw the sign above Auschwitz 'work sets you free' the Americans hold the same type of sign above Iraq and Afghanistan 'America sets you free' but have exactly the same heinous motives and consequences for the peoples of these countries. It is their general plan east. Actual war for resources and geopolitics is the ultimate sign of a primitive nation, it is one huge step backwards and the US is leading the way.

The whole concept of "Victory Day" in Russia is a bit surprising. Soviet started World War II together with Germany in 1939. Germany attacked Poland from one side, and Soviet attacked Poland from the other side a few weeks later. So Soviet started the war as co-operation partners with the Nazis. It was only when dictator Adolph Hitler changed his mind almost two years later and attacked his former partner dictator Joseph Stalin that Soviet was forced to defend itself and ironically ended up at the "right" side of the war, against the nazism. So Soviet took a great part in starting the war, and afterwards took a great part in stopping the war. Is that a good basis for celebration? "We stopped what we started! Hurray!" After the war, the communist dictators in Soviet forced other Eastern European countries into communism, with torture and mass murder as result. It is difficult to guess if the communists would have been better or worse than the nazis. The nazis had their concentration camps, the communists had the GULags. It is a strange concept.

The Victory Day celebrations offer an insight into RT. I was pleased when RT arrived on the web, as I wanted to see the Russian perspective on the news. Sadly, I'm now disappointed and don't feel that RT is worth following. I expected to find a rich portfolio of photos showing the activities of Victory Day, as well as historic photos of the war. Instead what I found was an endless parade of video clips that show nothing more than "talking heads" - correspondents yakking into the video camera, clip after clip after clip. I want to yell Oh Shut Up at the computer screen. RT has become boring...
