The dust has barely settled on the German elections, yet groups of citizens are already preparing to show their dissatisfaction with the new government’s nuclear energy policy.

The new government are taking the only sane action. The Greens are a minority party (10.7% now) who held the balance of power in the coalition with the SPD. Their idea to shut off all nuclear reactors in Germany by 2020 was not widely supported in the population - not least because their ideas did not include what would replace nuclear power. Despite Germany's adoption of wind power and other green alternatives, the only options after shuting off the nuclear reactors would be to have built many more coal-fired power stations or power cuts. If the 10.7% of people that support the Greens want to live without electricity, good luck to them - but the majority of us don't agreee with them.
