New Caucasus states will win recognition - Nicaragua

The President of Nicaragua, Daniel Ortega, says it’s only a matter of time before the newly-independent states of South Ossetia and Abkhazia win widespread recognition.
Apart from Russia, Ortega’s Central American nation is the only other country to officially acknowledge the republics. Speaking to the Russian media, Ortega said he had “a strong feeling that Latin American countries” would follow suit.
“There is no other alternative, as the recognition comes out of respect towards UN charter principles and international law… Of course the recognition by other Latin American countries will happen eventually,” Ortega said.
