The first direct passenger flight between Moscow and Tbilisi in more than a month is set to take off.

The Georgian Airways plane will leave the Georgian capital Tbilisi on Monday, landing in Moscow in the evening.

Russia has given permission for a number of charter flights to operate until the 9th June.

It shut down air links with Georgia following Tbilisi's attack on South Ossetia in August 2008.

Travel has been resumed for short periods this year during religious holidays.
