After a few hours of relief on Monday, millions of Russians are again waking up to a thick layer of smog as forest and peat fires continue to rage across the country.
Perhaps now is the time for the Government to think about a change to a New Capital of the Russian Federation. It can be EKATERINBURG, which is at the same time close to the Center of Russian population (Central District, Caucasus, Leningrad Oblast) and in Siberia, so it will help to unite the Russian people. Yes, Washington DC is also far away from L.A., but the distance between L.A. and Washington is just half that between Moscow and Vladivostok..... So EKATERINBURG as New Capital of the Russian Federation will mean that Russia is now living in a New Age different from both the Russian Empire and the USSR. Ekaterinburg is close to Astana and to Xingjiang (China) being at the same time close to Helsinki (European Union)
..but why I can't belive, that hunderts of fires just started by their own? Ideas what or who else can caused them, except the two hot weeks?

I thinks the London correspondent is correct in that this unbearable heat is not directly connected with globalwarming although the decrease in Arctic ice undoubtedly proves that a warming has taken place. It seems to me that the weather over European Russia west of the Urals has got into a rut .The wild fires and smog exasperate ( make worse ) the situation probably heating the days a few degrees and slowing down night radiation. My heart goes out to you all . In winter I'd welcome some imported weather from Russia to replace our wet/mild misery but not your heat hell of this summer !!!
