Medvedev is absolutely correct on this, we need all our public's input, I regularly send in my opinion directly and will be continuing to do so based on all future proposals. I take the view, that if you can't be bothered to comment and place an order, then don't blame anyone if you get a bad meal served up. Public consultation, not think tanks and committees is the way to go, let them do the work, and let the people decide and drive the process. Well done Medvedev, your on the right road here!

Yes - good idea. People who run businesses, work for companies or use public services are all better placed to understand the problems they face than burocrats who are insulated from the real world. This is one of the big problems in the EU - career administrators with protected jobs and generous salaries who have no idea and no interest how the rest of the population live.

This is wonderful news! I agree with Medvedev and I think that he's on the right path with this. I like that he said he would take into consideration all of the successes and failures of the other countries instead of just copying them. I just hope that the people are willing to give it their all for the good of their country.

I think Medvedev has much to do with honesty and equity! At least, he knows human insights and knows what to do. The only problem, his tight hands he is trying to set free now. In fact, you dont have to be smart to know who governs Russia. If he dont implement new progress in economy and social system i cant see Russian future in this case. Russians should put the oil driven economy to an end! Well done Medvedev, just tell us the names of those who are behind all decisions government takes and people might help!

“A technological revolution, strong civil society, efficient parliament and reformed judicial system are the key components for a prosperous, powerful and free Russia.” Absolutely right. Yet none of this can happen if Russia continues to selectively embrace Stalinist lies and continues to hide its past not from others, but from itself. More than 60 years after Stalin’s establishment of the Soviet empire, why does Russia still block access to historical archives of the 1940s and 1950s? And why does the same Medvedev who speaks so eloquently above, also threaten criminal prosecution to all who dispute Russia’s slant on its Soviet-era history – which, co-incidentally, is the same as Stalin’s slant? Everyone’s present and future grows from their past. A past that continues to be shrouded in lies cannot produce a happy present or healthy future.

More of this sort, and I'll definitely move to Russia. I am sick and tired of the West where I currently live, and the much lower taxes in Russia are very, very interesting. If the corruption is pushed back even more, there'll be only one choice for me - Russia.

Tgis is exactly what is needed ..a call to all Russians to forge their own future...history has shown the Russian people to be able to raise up to all challenges..it is great that the president has now uttered this call...raise up Russians take your place at the head of the world!

Marzipan6, you cannot resist to spam every comment string. Yes, we know that you believe that Stalin and Soviet Union were really the aggressors in WWII, and Hitler only a supporting actor. We know that you are bent on proving that Estonian was not a Nazi-collaborator state. And you have engaged --- and lost -- many a debate on the topic. Trying to find more audience for your cause will not change the course of history. The use of internet in the direct communication and opening the world of ideas, is definitely the way to go. I believe that in the future we will see many more practical uses for the technology. This is just a beginning. President Medvedev has really made his mark on history by exploring the width and breadth of Russian public opinion in a manner not before attempted. Many things will be learned in the process.

My hat comes off for Dmitry Medvedev. Way to go and best of luck! This is what I call a true president. Just Like someone else in this string, I am looking for a place to move to from the USA. If Russian society keeps moving in the direction it is already moving in and problems highlighted by Mr.Medvedev are tackled, this will be the place to move to! Even now many people (including highly successful and professional people) in the world like the idea of Russia, if changes (gradual and natural evolutionary changes - how true!) in Russian civil society and economic structure are implemented, people will start acting on their idea and move there. Mr. Medvedev, Best of luck!

Medvedev forgot the most important and crucial component. Dissolve the Central Bank, ban fiat currency, use Gold/Siver (also Platinum, and Palladium which Russia is *the major* producer of) as money. Without sound money/fiscal policy, the economy will be stagnant. Russia (and the rest of the world) need to learn from history. Keynesian economics is a disaster. Hard money is the only way to go for prosperity.

I am fully supportive of Dmitry Medvedev new approuch. He is the person who is right for his job. I belive that he has a clear vision what need to do and where need to go. I am also supportive of his liberal politics with western countries - Russia needs interraction, collaboration and communication to move forward at high speed in all areas of life. Russia has an important part to play in the world progress and that includes modernisation of the technology and communications. Russia always was the country which were looking into the space in search for the uknown and in the quest for new knowledge. I hope we will have a nice smooth transition period from the old to the new!
