One of the biggest leaks in US military history has exposed several cover-ups over the war in Afghanistan, including the deaths of hundreds of civilians.
How did we defeat Germany in WWII? Bombed them into UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER! How did we defeat Japan in WWII? Two atomic bombs brought them to UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER! But truth is, you were lied to, the above ARE the facts of war." MSgt (retired) AKA "Been there DONE that". We didn't win the war against Hitler just by bombing the Germans to death. We mainly defeated them on the battlefield. The Russian didn't drop any bombs on Germany. They ground the Nazis into dust in a two year infantry and tank action which took them from Stalingrad and Kursk to Berlin and Torgau. But the Russians lost 20 million people in the Second World War. Another example, the Japanese had been expelled by the Marines and Navy to their islands before the nukes. So it's not as easy as you say. We can win but only at a big price.
Nobody knows whose doing the leaking. Is it the CIA for its own purposes? Is it a bored member of the military? Forget about who and think what. What impact is the news having. Is it increasing public confidence in the Afghan adventure? Or is it having the opposite effect? In Europe the story will strengthen the opposition to the war. And increase the pressure on every politician here to name an unconditional exit date. And in America it will reduce the band of politicians unconditionally committed to the Afghan folly. Every neighbor of Afghanistan should accelerate its planning for dealing with a post NATO Afghanistan.
Christoph Horstel got it right when he point out that Wikileaks’s “soft” of these low level reports. He also got it right when he asserted that the Western media is spinning the supposed cooperation between the Taliban and the Pakistan. Today at a Press Conference in London Julian Assange was asked if making links between a close cooperation between the Afghan Taliban and Pakistan might not lead to widening of the Afghan conflict to Pakistan. Horstel is also correct when he asserted that the U.S is playing the game double Pakistan is being accused to be playing in Afghanistan because it wants to widen the conflict to Pakistan, Iran and beyond.
Acording to wikileaks.org founder there is proof of war crimes in them documents as well, this is only about 92K of docs out of about 266K, the rest is to follow soon. And es expected PR officers will do their jobs as expected and spin it in such a way as to minimize damage or the "free" media will only report on parts they think are presentable in a positive light for their govs and militaries.
Eh, Tom, you might remember when talking of bombing people, that it was Japan who invaded and occupied others; it was Hitler who invaded and occupied others. Try to use your brain: if Japan and Hitler had not invaded and occupied anyone, do you imagine for a second the people would have bee happy to see us arrive? Maybe by your logic, if Hitler had only bombed and bombed Stalingrad just a bit more beyond the rubble he made of it he would never have had to face the wrath of the people of Stalingrad, where the war was actually won? Do ya think? Not! We didn't do squat but come and make a second front after the Soviets had already won. Maybe refusing to admit that singular fact is one of the reasons we keep on having misadventures in war and act in a very stupid manner? No ONE anywhere claims that the hydrogen bombs dropped on Japan won the war, which had already been won; the only claim was that it saved American and even Japanese lives from the invasion that would have otherwise had to occur. Furthermore, its an historic fact, not one of our never never land American fanatsies, that the Japanese were willing to surrender, just not unconditionally.
The Germanys declared war on the US after the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. German submarines were sinking US ships and the Japanese were invading US allies, with the ultimate goal of either isolating America or destroying her. The Germans were designing rockets and aircraft to deliver their atom bombs on the US cities. The Taliban and the Afghan people have never in their history attacked the US or US allies, nor, plan to do so. The American war fanatics keep lying to the American people that the Taliban attacked on 9-11 - this is a blatant lie. The Saudis attacked America on 9-11. These Saudi terrorists lived in the US and were trained to fly the planes in the US. Several of them even had American girls friends. The Americans had absolutely no justification to attack Afghanistan and Iraq. The Bush administration's attack on Afghanistan and Iraq was as perfidious as Hitler's attack on the USSR. Now, some Americans are advocating that they conduct "total war" against the Afghan people who resist American occupation of their country. If America does begin to deliberately murder Afghan civilians in order to get a victory, then Obama and his generals must be brought to trial at the Hauge as "war criminals". The American have a long history of deliberately killing innocent men, women and children. They tested 2 atom bombs on Japanese cities. They killed 2.2 million Vietnamese and poisoned the land with Agent Orange. They bombarded Serbia, killing over 3,000 Serbs. The Americans sent cruise missiles into the Belgrade TV station killing 14 young staffers whose only "crime" was to play patriotic music to keep up the spirits of the people. The American pilots shot up a Serb train, and when they saw the young nurses helping the wounded, they machine gunned them as well. I believe that Americans are quite capable of deliberately killing Afghans in order not to lose. The question is: will their allies tolerate such barbarity.
It has been fascinating listening to the various pundits, professors of journalism, and others engaging in puffery. Most of these self-serving types have tried to convince the public that they are really professional journalists who know how to balance the information and carefully assess its impact. By definition, the leaking of the information is not journalism, and presto --- not worth paying attention. How infuriating. The journalists have not been doing their jobs. They have filtered the information in order to "balance" it, but for whose benefit? They are treating public as juveniles, small children who cannot understand raw data, and need "journalists" to interpret it for us! Such condenscending attitude has not been seen from the time of lords and serfs. It makes one wonder what they take us for.
Actually the Il-4 dropped plenty of bombs on Germany from 1941 onwards, but the Soviets knew that dropping bombs on Germany was not going to win the war. Germany dropping bombs on Britain didn't defeat Britain either, nor did US dropping more bombs in Vietnam and neighbouring countries than they ever dropped during WWII. Air power is impressive but limited in effectiveness in most conflicts. Airpower alone wasn't even enough in Kosovo, there was political pressure needed too. Germany was defeated by ground troops fighting their way into Germany. Japan was defeated because the Soviets were coming and they preferred to surrender to the US than end up like East Germany.
It is up to bloggers and others on the internet to disclose the real news. The mainstream TV and newspaper companies have been co-opted and corrupted for years. It got really bad in the past 10 years. That was why the Washington Post article got noticed last week. And why Wikileaks is so popular.

I'm keen on understanding how a lot of this data never reached the public .... why ? Are all journalist sleeping or are they being told to shut up and not talk about it ? Having said that i'm also keen on understanding why Russia had the intention of blocking the page . China is evident why and there is a leaked document on wikileaks stating the US Secret services tried to shut them down by disclosing sources and prosecuting them but seen as they have not made public a single source this seems t have failed .
