Kosovo struggles with recognition

Despite weeks of publicity, Kosovo has been recognised by just 27 countries so far. Costa Rica was the first, followed closely by the United States, France and Afghanistan. The most recent countries to come on board are Iceland, Slovenia and Finland.
Twenty-four more countries are expected to give the nod as soon as their legal systems allow them.
But many more will be needed if the disputed state wants to secure its position in international relations.
And many Kosovars see international recognition as key to their future.
