The President of Chechnya – Ramzan Kadyrov – says the close associate of warlord Doku Umarov, Islam Uspakhadzhiyev, was killed during a special operation on Friday.

Doku Umarov is also thought to be among the dead, as he always stayed close with Uspakhadzhiyev, says the Russian Republic's President.

Helicopters carried out a rocket strike on Friday in an area of the North Caucasus where the combatants had been spotted. At least twenty of them were killed

Kadyrov says there were no casualties among the troops involved in the action.

It has been described as one of the largest security operations in recent months.

If Umarov is really that important, why not a DNA test? And, btw they must have been hit badly by the Crocodile barrages, since when there were no wounded or casualties, resistance must have been futile or none after that. Finally air support at a roughly precise target. At least they were found before being able to do any harm. I wouldnt want to collect their remains by pieces, cause I would have my stomach turn I think, stench......but anyway, theyre dead, nd although its bad people die, perverts willing to kill deserve the same without doing any harm.

Excellent! and this the way to go; always take the terrorists out in a full on transparent military way. Whilst at the same time persuing political and economic improvements for the peaceful people of the region. This is a long and painful road, made harder by western financing and training of the terrorists, however, by rapid attrition and containment of the terrorists and socioeconomic development in the region, we can limit the extent of these terrorists ability to terrorise the local population.
