The daughter of actress Nathalie Baye and legendary “French Elvis”, rocker/actor Johnny Hallyday, Laura Smet, has reportedly attempted suicide.
The 26-year-old rising star of French cinema allegedly lost consciousness in the oldest church in Paris, Saint-Germain des Pres, after taking medication mixed with alcohol on January, 4.
French daily le Figaro indicates that although, according to her agent, the actress has suffered a “simple malaise”, a source in police has been quoted as saying that she is “in a serious condition”.
However, the police couldn’t yet clearly say whether the incident amounted to a suicide attempt or not.
Earlier in December it was Smet’s father, one of the most popular French artists of all time, who was close to death, allegedly after complications from surgery in Paris.

RT brings you the interview with Laura Smet which was made earlier last year, in the light of the Russian premiere of her latest break-through, black-and white drama, “Frontier of Dawn”.
She told RT’s Valeria Paikova that cinema initially was not on her “to do” list.
“The hardest thing about this profession is when you have no offers, no work. When I’ve got interesting films on the agenda, I feel very happy about the opportunity to meet new people. What I love about this profession is that there are so many different roles one can play – a secretary, a prostitute, or an actress – you can become almost anything in front of the camera.”
